When Your Designer Series Paper Won't Work

What do you do when you just don't have the right pattern or color of designer series paper to make that card you have in mind? Try another card?

Nuh Uh! You make your own!

That's what I do and it is so easy. Look for a stamp set that has multiple sizes of images. It may not matter that the images are totally different - for example, it doesn't have to be all flowers. It could be flowers and triangles. You are the designer.

Choose colors that you think look good together.

Get some scrap paper and stamp away until something hits that "Oh Yah" spot.

I chose two images from Balloon Celebration stamp set and stamped in Dapper Denim and Melon Mambo. I kept my images spaced far apart because I did not want it to take over the card.

Always start with the larger image first. Stamp randomly. Then take the next smaller image and start filling in the spots. Keep going until you have the density of design that you want.

Here are a few more examples for you.

Don't be afraid to experiment - you will find some lovely and fun combinations. The best part - your card will be unique!

The bear on my card is made with - you guessed it --- Fox Builder Punch! And I think he is darling!

After punching the body and head for the fox, I rounded the ears with my scissors.

I added a few punches to get the nose and feet. The Owl Builder punch has perfect size circles for the feet.  The 1/4" circle punch creates the nose.

The face and feet are stamped with the Foxy Friends Stamp set. Plus, I stamped the ears by inking up just the nose.  I cut out the bow with scissors.

One Tip - sponging around the edges will help create the three dimensional look.

I embossed the greeting from Greatest Greetings (which is a great accompaniment to this bundle by the way). I stamped in Versamark ink, then in Dapper Denim ink. I sprinkled the clear embossing powder on the stamped image and shook off the excess. Then I heated the image until it turned glossy.

Don't forget to add the enamel shape in Melon Mambo and finish the inside of your card too!

Make it Cute with Foxy Friends

You can imagine so many fun cards with this bundle!

You won't want to put this set down.

This little skunk reminds me of flower in the Disney movie "Bambi". I used just the punch for the skunk except for stamping the nose and eyes.

To create the tail, I punched out the tail in white and glued it to a piece of basic black. Then I used scissors to trim around the outside. The cute little paw prints are from the stamp set and the greeting is from "Bella and Friends" Stamp set. This set works great with Foxy Friends.

I embossed the word "Enjoy" with black embossing powder to make it pop!

The skunk is backed with a foil doily and the polkadot paper, which is the perfect accent for this little stinker, is from Pop of Pink Designer Series Paper.

But Skunks are not all that you can enjoy with this set - what about BEARS!
Stay tuned for tomorrow - I will post one more tomorrow.

Foxy Friends - Just too Cute

I have seen so many cute things done with the Foxy Friends Punch and Stamp set. I am just now getting some of my own creations done! This set and punch is fun and easy, easy to work with. When you buy the bundle, you save money!

First I tried a Shaker Card -- don't you love the little Raccoon?

Since this stamp set does not have sentiments, I love how this it works so well with the Pretty Kitty Stamp Set  (shown above) and the Greatest Greetings Stamp set (shown below with the Fox card).

It's easy to create Shaker Cards. You need to create a window (I used the layering Hearts framelits). Cover the opening with Window Sheet. Use the Foam Strips to outline the heart shape on the back of the card. Working from the back, fill the inside of the heart with sequins, confetti, beads - any fun thing you want. Then place a piece of card stock over the back of the Heart = there it is!

I used white card stock to back my Shaker Window and put a Raccoon and a Raccoon Tail on the back piece - do they look like they are peeking in?

Next - of course - the Fox.

You will not run out of ideas for these cute little critters. I started to make a shaker card out of this card but smudged ink on the right bottom corner - so I just cut off the corner with my scissors and stuck a bit of designer Series Paper (from the In-Color Stack) behind the front of the card.

I was planning to have the little fox peeking out from the "shaker" window - just left him there and turned a major boo-boo into a pretty cute card!

Stay Tuned - tomorrow the skunk and the bear!

Thoughtful Branches in Bronze

I find inspiration in Thoughtful Branches - ideas just seem so easy with this stamp set.

I was inspired to use Bronze embossing powder with the Flirty Flamingo card stock when I saw another demonstrator use it. When I looked at the stamp set - this combination just seemed to be a natural. Hope you enjoy!

The layout is inspired by this sketch from CAS(e) This Sketch

Looking for inspiration - check out this blog. The ideas are just wonderful!

Colors: Soft Suede, Flirty Flamingo, Watermelon Wonder, Whisper White, Bronze (from the embossed leaves).

I stamped the leaves (two different stamps) in versamark and embossed them with Bronze embossing powder. I cut them with the matching Thinlits.

Stamp set: Thoughtful Branches (143539) & Balloon Celebration (140375) for the sentiment
I also used the Beautiful Branches Thinlit Die set (143538)

Bundle the stamp and thinlits & save (144328)

This set is available through the end of August while supplies last.

Everyone is Posting About Thoughtful Branches

I have never seen so many beautiful examples using one stamp set as I have seen today. Don't miss the opportunity to get this stamp set and thinlit - they are only available for a limited time.

The set has beautiful sentiments and an amazing variety of looks ...

And it pairs beautifully with the thinlits. Together they give you a terrific lot of choices!

Let me share some of the fun ideas I came up with today.

Love this set?

You can get your own - but hurry - this will be for a limited time -

August only & only while supplies last!

Use the oval layering framelits to create a mask, sponge soft sky ink over the oval onto Whisper White Card Stock. Stamp the trees in Smokey Slate. Only Re-ink your stamp every other time. Lighter images will give the sense of depth.

Stamp the greeting in versamark and emboss with silver embossing powder. Add Silver stars from the Glitter Paper and the sequin assortments.

Mat the whisper white (which is 4 7/8 x 3 5/8") onto Dapper Denim (5 1/4 x 4") and then on to a Soft Sky Card Base.

Cut a piece of Whisper White that is 4 1/4 x x 2" and stamp the dotted "leaves" randomly in Soft Sky and Bermuda Bay. Sponge the edge with Bermuda Bay. Attach this to a piece of Blooms & Bliss Designer Series Paper cut 4 1/4 x 4" and sponged along the edge with Bermuda Bay. Attach this to the card base which is Sahara Sand.

Use thinlits to cut the tree from Tip Top Taupe. Glue to the white piece with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Sponge a the leaves, which are cut from Soft Sky, with Bermuda Bay ink and attached them over the tree with Stampin' Dimensionals. TIP - cut the tiny pieces of Dimensionals from the edge of the sheet - they will fit the back of the leaves beautifully.

Separate strips of the Burlap ribbon into threads and use these to accent the sentiment oval. Add the sentiment stamped in Bermuda Bay - cut with Oval layering Framelits and sponged with Bermuda Bay around the edge.

Be sure to finish the inside too!
